Sisters of Code Celebrated Employment Skills Students Graduation Event in 2024

On September 21, 2024, @Sisters of Code hosted a very special celebration—our students’ graduation from the 12-week studies of the first Employment Skills Program. It was a day of pride and excitement, with 58 students gathering to celebrate their achievements alongside family and friends.

The Employment Skill Program has a mission to help young women to build confidence and gain valuable digital skills that will empower them in the future and improve employment possibilities in the tech industry.

Over the course of 12 weeks, our Website Development and UX/UI students worked on both individual projects and group collaborations. We’re proud to share that 100% of the students in this course said they were satisfied with the program and would recommend it to others. Students have gained practical training in UX/UI fundamentals and front-end development, as well as using WIX platform to create websites.

Students in our Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing course made great strides as well. They not only learned valuable skills to further their careers but also formed strong connections with their classmates. According to our recent survey, 92% of the students felt the program helped them grow professionally, and 88% said they would encourage more Cambodian female students to get involved in this program. It’s exciting to see the positive effects from our Sisters of Code students ‘both courses of this program inspiring others to join our community. The program has focused on developing students skills in launching businesses, understanding marketing and even financial planning processes. Students have been working under the guidance of Deloitte team international mentors, supporting our students's projects development and preparation of pitches.

One of the highlights of the graduation event was the student presentations. Each group had the chance to share what they had learned during the program. Ms. To Rysha, a Website Development and UX/UI student, gave an insightful presentation on how to create a website using Wix.com, showing how easy it is to build a professional online presence. Ms. Kim Kinpagnapich, from the Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing course, shared her team’s project, Recharge, and walked the audience through their journey from idea to implementation. Both presentations were a testament to the creativity, dedication, and growth these students experienced during the program.

Last but not least, we’re incredibly thankful for the support that made this program possible. A huge thanks to the Liechtenstein Development Service for providing the funding that helps us offer these opportunities to young women in Cambodia. We also want to thank Deloitte for their ongoing support with their Deloitte EleVate Program in the Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing course and IT Academy STEP Cambodia  for providing a safe and comfortable space for our students to learn and grow. We would also like to shout out to our dedicated Sisters of Code’s trainers in both courses who provided the best guidance on the designed curriculum to help their students achieve a remarkable result.

This graduation wasn’t just a celebration of what our students have achieved—it was also a glimpse into their bright futures. These young women are now equipped with the skills, confidence, and community they need to succeed in the digital world where they are ready for internship opportunities. We’re so excited to see where their journeys will take them, we can’t wait to continue empowering more women through Sisters of Code
